CONSERVATION HALTON RELEASES
WINTER INSERT

OAKVILLE, Ontario (January 26, 2004) – Conservation Halton has released 100,000 copies of its winter issue of Focus on Conservation – a quarterly update on its park activities and conservation news affecting the Halton Region. The 16-page tabloid was was distributed today to households in Burlington, Oakville and Milton through copies of the Burlington Post, Milton Champion and Oakville Beaver newspapers.

This is the third issue of Focus that Perspective Marketing has produced for Conservation Halton since the conservation authority chose Perspective as its agency of record in early 2004.

“Conservation Halton was very pleased with the winter issue of Focus,” says Gary Hutton, Director of Communications with Conservation Halton. “We received many calls from board members and residents about its colourful look and positive stories about outdoor recreation and environmental protection".

The winter issue invites readers to visit the parks for winter activities ranging from snowboarding to maple syrup tasting and gives them a heads up about summer camp fun at Ways of the Woods. It also updates readers on progress with various conservation-related plans and issues such as the Greenbelt Protection Plan affecting the Golden Horseshoe Area and news on a low-salt diet for roads. A handy map of the parks and a calendar of events are also included.

One board member sent a note of congratulations on the “excellent winter edition of Focus.” He continued, “The whole tone of the paper is upbeat, with pictures of smiling people enjoying themselves at the conservation areas. It was also very heart-warming to see so many "good news" articles in this issue . . . I was really pleased to see such a great variety of advertisements, from many local schools and businesses, in this issue. Congratulations on a job very well done!”
