HAMILTON HEALTH SCIENCES

OAKVILLE, Ontario, June 23, 2005 Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) has embarked on an ambitious community campaign as part of a $250-million plan to invest in extensive facilities redevelopment to bring Hamilton and southern Ontario even better healthcare. HHS enlisted the help of Perspective Marketing to assist it with the project.

Perspective Marketing designed and produced a 16-page newspaper supplement that was distributed this month. It highlights the stature and quality of healthcare at HHS to the community and businesses across the region served by HHS.

"Our redevelopment plans represent the single largest investment in quality healthcare our community has seen in a generation," says Jeff Vallentin, director of public relations and communications with HHS. Plans include the expansion of the Heart Investigation

Unit and cardiac surgical suite at Hamilton General, the transformation of the Henderson General Hospital, including the upgrading of cancer inpatient and outpatient units, a new state-of-the-art regional rehabilitation centre, a new adult intensive care unit at McMaster University Medical Centre, a new pediatric intensive care unit, revamped emergency room and a child and adolescent mental health inpatient unit for patients at McMaster Children's Hospital.

"Through co-operative advertising, we are able to leverage an attractive rate structure," says Vallentin. "In fact, the section offers a Cost Per Thousand that is about one sixth the cost of normal rates for The Globe and Mail."

HHS is a family of five unique hospitals and a regional cancer centre that make up the second largest healthcare organization in Ontario.
